Decan Spotlight: Libra I: The Two Of Swords — Balance & Intuition
Greetings Mystic,
We are entering the first decan of Libra (0-10°), Libra is traditionally ruled by Venus, however this decay is ruled by the Moon and represented in the Rider-Waite Smith Tarot by the 2 of Swords. This period runs from September 23rd through October 1st/2nd, carrying the deep energy of knowing without knowing. A moment of peace between the mental chatter and external chaos. I see this decan as a silver lining between worlds (and opinions) and the frozen moment in mediation where you access the Divine and private
communication between you and God (the higher power or guidance you personally connect with).
Astrological Meaning of Libra l:
Libra’s first decan finds an equilibrium between thought and intuition. With the Moon as this decan’s ruler, there is a gift of mediation and a sense of justice inherently embedded. It is a time of temporary peace, trust, and meditation to hear the divine inner voice.
Shadow side: Emotional avoidance, indecision / paralysis, the denial of truth, and the illusion of peace.
Tarot Correspondence:
The 2 of Swords paints the beautiful and lucid image of a woman sitting blindfolded, holding two mighty swords across her chest. There is a crescent moon providing little external light, and the body of water behind her is large and in subtle motion. This is the reminder to shut out all external interference to hear the wisdom of the water, aka, your intuition for guidance. This is the time of disciplined balance and internal (emotional) stamina with emphasis on mindful external (physical) stamina to help you get to the silver lining, where mental stamina is achieved long enough to provide clear insight or instruction of what is to come when the window of temporary peace closes.
The Conjunction:
When Libra l meets the 2 of Swords, the message is: relish in the momentary peace and calmness, but not so much that you become unprepared for the unpredictability that comes soon after. Meditate and gather your insights and tools, but do not lock away in meditation (or isolation) that you ignore the problems at hand. Balance.
Elements: The Moon and Libra Air
The Moon governs the subconscious and unconscious, emotions, intuition, family / roots, and all that is Yin in principle. When the silver Moon and the Venusian grace of Libra come together, there is beauty in the ebb and flow between the metaphors that come to you and your mental agility to translate them. This may be a good time to focus on meditational practices such as writing poetry, practicing Qigong, Yoga, or TaiChi etc. Dates with loved ones or solo to an orchestra concerto may prove to be exceptionally pleasant and lucky during this time, as Libra rules stringed instruments, adding luck and extra charm to your energy field. Just as one finds temporary peace in an orchestra concerto, the show must alas end sooner or later. Having all your affairs in place before and after your “meditation” of choice will ensure you are not falling into escapism but instead building life-force energy through these windows of momentary peace. This also a beneficial time to consider an opposing/opponants point of view.
